Chiropractic adjustments are used to restore alignment and proper movement to the vertebral segments of the spine. This reduces the interference of nerves exiting your spine allowing your brain and central nervous system to communicate properly with the rest of your body and actually heal itself.
There are numerous types of chiropractic techniques. The most common technique we use consists of the doctor applying a fast and light force into a very specific area of the spine to restore function. We occasionally use a special instrument called an activator to assist us with the adjustment.
Acupuncture is the use of thin needles that are inserted into the body at different depths across certain points, called meridian points. Meridian points are a stimulated with needle insertion to balance the energy or Qi at that point. Different combinations of points are used to treat pain and various conditions of the body.
Electrical Muscle Stimulation
Electrical Muscle Stimulation or EMS uses electrical current applied to an injury though the placement of special pads on the skin. The stimulation causes your body to increase blood flow to the area allowing it to carry out inflammtion and bring in nutrients to help speed the healing process. An added benefit is that it also makes your body produce endorphins and enkephalins, which are your bodies natural pain relievers.
Kinesiology Tape is a specially designed tape that helps to support an injured area without restricting movment (restricting movement to an injury can actually prolong the healing process). The tape increases your bodies proprioception (your ability to know you have your arm raised with out acutally having to see it). By increasing the proprioception it prevents the area from moving past its natural range of motion and teaches it how to move properly.

IASTM is the abbreviation for "Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization". IASTM is performed with instruments to release adhesions that have formed on the muscle facia (a thin layer that covers your muscles to allow them to move freely). The adhesions prevent the muscle from moving freely under the fasica which in turn causes decreased range of motion and pain.
Laser Therapy uses a low level laser that stimulates cellular respiration causing the tissue to regenerate and increases the rate at which the tissue heals.
